Update on the stationing process: New Minister

As many of you will now know the Rev Steve Mann visited our church last Saturday 15 November, after being “matched” with our vacancy for a new Superintendent Minister from September 2015. Steve, his wife Karen and son Euan 10 (their other son Tim 20 is at his last year at Durham University) looked around the church and the adjoining rooms before joining in at ‘Open Doors’ and had the chance to talk (briefly) with quite a few church members who had called in.

After visiting the manse they went on to Thornborough chapel meeting some stewards and members and also Rev Tim Edworthy, the new Baptist Minister at Well Street Buckingham. Then on to Steeple Claydon before finishing up at Brackley Church where Steve and Karen talked about their 19 years in the ministry (1996-2005 Higham Ferrers and Raunds Circuit and 2005 until now in the Tunbridge Wells Circuit). Before entering the ministry, Steve was a Lay Pastoral Assistant in the Tavistock Circuit 1985-87 and then a Chartered Accountant 1987-94.

Some members of Bicester Church Council and members of the Circuit Leadership Team attended the meeting at Brackley. In addition, the Circuit Invitation Committee were present and there were questions from the floor after Steve had spoken. Then after Steve and his family had left there was general discussion resulting in the Circuit Invitation Committee agreeing that Steve be offered the position of Superintendent Minister from September 2015. Over the weekend this decision was relayed to Steve who was pleased to accept.
